YVRAS is the sole owner of TradePort International Corporation, which holds a 40 year lease (and 40 year extension option) with the City of Hamilton to develop, manage and operate Hamilton International Airport. The airport offers scheduled airline service to a variety of Canadian cities by WestJet, as well as seasonal charter services to the USA.
In 2008, the new international arrivals hall was opened and a 1000 m2 expansion to the departure lounge was completed.
In 2009 Hamilton International Airport served 429,500 passengers, handled 44,400 aircraft movements and moved 78,500 tonnes of cargo. It is also the site of one of Canada's leading aviation museums, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
In February 2010, a community-driven artistic installation was unveiled in the departures lounge and international arrivals corridor, to give airport passengers a "Sense of Place", displaying a visual panorama of the Bruce Trail, the Niagara Escarpment and the City of Hamilton.
Located in the heart of the vibrant "Golden Horseshoe" region of southwestern Ontario - close to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Niagara Falls, and the Niagara Peninsula - the airport serves a population of 2.5 million within a 50 minute drive and 8.4 million within a 90 minute drive. It offers passengers an attractive alternative to overcrowded Pearson International Airport in nearby Toronto, while also supporting the strong local catchment in Hamilton.
Hamilton International is the largest inter-modal freighter airport in the country and services all major Canadian and international destinations with runways that can accommodate fully loaded wide-body international aircraft.
