North Peace Airport Services (a wholly owned subsidiary of YVRAS) assumed management and operating responsibility for Fort St. John Airport in 1997 under a 30-year lease from the North Peace Airport Society. Since then, YVRAS has provided project management for runway and airport lighting systems upgrades and a new 2800-square-metre terminal. A substantial apron and taxiway rehabilitation project was complete in 2008.
In 2009 the airport handled over 117,000 passengers and 25,000 aircraft movements.
Fort St. John Airport serves communities of the North Peace region of northeastern British Columbia, an area rich in agriculture, oil and gas, and energy generation.
