Cranbrook Airport Services Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of YVRAS) has managed and operated the airport under contract to the City of Cranbrook since 1997.  In October 2008, a newly expanded and renovated terminal officially opened including new arrivals and departures areas as well as new Canada Border Services Facilities. 

Delta Airlines, inaugurated in 2008, continued service to Salt Lake City, Utah three times a week through the 2009/2010 winter season. Kamloops Airport also offers daily Vancouver service by Pacific Coastal Airlines and Air Canada and daily Calgary service by Central Mountain Air and Air Canada Jazz.  

In 2009 the airport served over 105,000 passengers and handled 10,500 flights.

Cranbrook is the largest city in the East Kootenay region of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, a year round tourist destination.
